Jul 2, adam crain said…: It's sad to know that a mans voice, who is excited about "men" in tights running across a painted white line gives you chills! Then again it doesn't suprise me because this whole state is full of people who need to get a life. Let me explain, I work with someone who buys the Knoxville paper every day to see the sports page, This person has also made the comment that if he had a gun he would like to blow the back windshield out of the car in front of us who simply had a "gator" sticker on the window.The same person has made similar comments about wishing that the opposing teams quarterback would get his leg broke, etc..I live in east Tennessee and I love my beautiful state and used to attend UT games. But something changed. There is an AM talk radio show in this area of which I have been somewhat cornered into having the displeasure of hearing several times over the past several years on my ride home from work. I am saddened by the fact that there are so many " no-lifes" in this day and age who talk about SPORTS like it is IMPORTANT. It's a GAME, face the reality! Those of you ( And you are many!!) who are so insecure that you put your identity in sports need to get a life. If you people would put the time, energy and money into a worth while cause ( like raising your kids properly...building your broken marriage...visiting your neighbor across the street that you have never met...doing SOMETHING to save this nation from going to hell! ) that you put into "UT sports" well, This world would'nt be in the shape its in. College is great; I've been to two, There's nothing wrong with playing games and having fun, just please do me a favor and remember it's only a GAME! Life has other more important priorities. God have mercy on America!

Jul 9, rick henry said…: don't listen to it then. you have a right not to pay any attention to it. but i wonder what you do or think that someone would like to tune out. haveing things that are important to a person outside of god and family is what makes life worth living and no big orange football is not life or death and sould not be worshiped like the the bible but it can give you something to do to take your mind of the hard times we live now. if what he does offends you so much then be man enough to tell him so and maybe your friendship could go to a different level but don't burst his bubble just because you disagree.

You are here on a VOLS site trying to tell me that I need to put time into a marriage when Im not married? That I need to visit my neighbor when I go to work 12 hours a day then to school in my free time! The reason this country is going down the drain is tools like you who want to whine and complain about anything someone does! People in this country have lost their backbone and toughness so that kids can have "timeouts" and be looked upon. You are probably one of these that complains if a kid gets their a__ busted for acting out anyways. Fact is that if you want to talk about the issues that you stated got to the local or national news and talk to them. If you want to talk about the VOLS...... then grow a pair and let them drop!

Just because your friend is passionate about the VOLS dont hate on him! It is an expression and if it isn't oh well! But in your sentence you say "God have mercy on America", why cant God have mercy on everyone? Instead of just asking God to bless us to you ask him to make everyone better? Do you ask God to wash away your sins.... or do you ask him to wash all of our sins away!?

And who are you to tell me what my "priorities" should be? I look at it like this.... I go to work, I go to school, I pay my bills, I don't recieve nothing from nobody I havent earned, and I make my way, so until you work my shift, make my money, pay my bills, take my exams, and keep me happy before yourself, Don't try to tell me what to do. If you would spend this time you are talking about that we are wasting on college sports, and use yours to do something other than try to critique someone else then maybe this world would be a better place.

Yes, The song gives me chills! Why because I am passionate about this team. Just as I am about my country! I smile when I hear Rocky Top just as I smile when I hear The Star Spangled Banner!

Dont tell me sports mean nothing when our troops are fighting the fight..... and personally the day I saw a M1A1 Abram go by with the Orange and White flying proudly made my day! So don't tell me what I should do! So if you want me and my friends to "waste" more time, I will give them a call and u can stand on the front line! HOOYAH!

I respectyour opinion, Hell i faught to defend your right to say whatever you want. It is people like you that get under my skin, people who are not passsionate about anything!! You be little people who are passionate about football. I wish everyone was passionate about something whether it be football, baseball, your pets or probably complaing about every damn thing that is wrong with this country. Like yourself. Passion is what make this country great, so get off your high horse because your life is so miserable that you have to go and bash everyone else who is passionate and happy about some freakin football. You do not even know what a nation going to hell even looks. We got it made in this country, If you dont believe me hell... travel to Iraq, Somalia, or Afghanistan. Even Kids in Iraq are just as passionate about soccer as we are about football.

I have known people like you before , maybe its you ! that needs to get a life and stop focusing on other peoples passions when you obviously have nothing to be passionate about!....GO VOLS!!!!
